EllisDon is aiming to redefine construction efficiency by partnering with Palantir Technologies and Scale AI, using advanced analytics and predictive modeling to cut supply chain costs and accelerate decision-making. These moves highlight how legacy industries can adopt AI to stay competitive while enhancing operational agility.
Driving AI-Enabled Decision-Making with Palantir
In January 2025, EllisDon formally announced its strategic partnership with Palantir Technologies, an advanced data analytics and AI company. The collaboration began in mid-2024 and integrates Palantir’s Foundry platform to unlock data-driven insights and streamline operations across EllisDon’s construction projects.

The implementation focuses on improving real-time decision-making, optimizing project timelines, and enhancing cost efficiency. With Palantir’s AI capabilities, EllisDon can analyze vast data sets to predict project bottlenecks, manage risks, and reduce cost overruns.
“This partnership accelerates our ability to make faster, smarter decisions based on real-time project data. It’s a transformative step in optimizing our operations and maintaining our competitive edge,” said Brandon Milner, Chief Information Officer of EllisDon, in a press release.
A foundational element of this partnership is EllisDon’s decade-long effort to modernize its data infrastructure. Since 2010, the company’s Digital & Data Engineering team has transitioned legacy systems to a fully modernized architecture capable of supporting advanced AI applications.
Optimizing Supply Chains with Scale AI
In 2023, EllisDon expanded its AI ambitions by collaborating with Scale AI, Canada’s AI Global Innovation Cluster. This initiative focuses on creating a predictive AI tool to optimize subcontractor management and improve supply chain efficiency—critical areas where inefficiencies drive costs.
The project, titled “AI-Driven Subcontractor, Labour and Equipment Management,” received $1.8 million in funding from Scale AI as part of a total $4.6 million investment. This tool leverages four years of historical project data to identify performance risks, improve budgeting accuracy, and reduce the likelihood of project delays.
“Subcontractors account for over 80% of total supply chain costs in construction. By leveraging AI, we can provide better forecasting, improve resource allocation, and drive more efficient operations,” Milner explained.

From Infrastructure to Innovation: Lessons for CIOs
EllisDon’s dual AI partnerships offer a playbook for CIOs navigating legacy-to-AI transitions:
- Invest Early in Data Modernization: EllisDon’s success relied on a decade of data infrastructure improvements to ensure AI readiness.
- Prioritize Operational Outcomes: AI initiatives should deliver tangible business impact—like cost savings and faster decision-making.
- Collaborate with AI Experts: Strategic partnerships with industry leaders can accelerate AI adoption without compromising core operations.
The Road Ahead
By combining Palantir’s advanced analytics with Scale AI’s predictive modeling, EllisDon is setting a new industry benchmark. These innovations are not only optimizing day-to-day operations but also offering a replicable model for other industries embracing AI.
For senior tech leaders, EllisDon’s approach underscores a critical takeaway: future-proofing legacy operations requires a deliberate blend of advanced technology, data readiness, and expert collaboration.
