On March 10, 2025, X, formerly known as Twitter, experienced significant disruptions due to a massive cyberattack. Users worldwide reported issues accessing the platform, with outage reports peaking at over 40,000 around 10 a.m. EST.
Elon Musk, the owner of X, addressed the situation, stating that the attack was executed with substantial resources, possibly by a large coordinated group or even a nation. He noted that the attack originated from IP addresses in the “Ukraine area.”

“We’re not sure exactly what happened,” Musk told Fox Business Network host Larry Kudlow about the apparent operation targeting his social media platform.“But there was a massive cyberattack to try to bring down the X system, with IP addresses originating in the Ukraine area,” he added.
“It makes absolutely no sense for Ukrainian hackers to attack Elon Musk the day before a meeting between the United States and Ukraine in which they are attempting to get the United States to start sharing intelligence again, and provide aid and assistance, working towards a peace agreement that has been in question since the Oval Office visit,” the Atlantic Council’s Alex Plitsas told The Post on Monday.
However, Musk’s post about the attack has since disappeared from the platform, leading to speculation about the reasons behind its removal. Some users have questioned whether the deletion was intentional or a result of the ongoing technical issues.
Throughout the day, X experienced multiple outages, with users facing difficulties accessing both the website and the mobile app. The platform’s instability highlighted the challenges in maintaining robust cybersecurity measures against sophisticated attacks.

By the afternoon, services began to stabilize, and users gradually regained access to their accounts. Despite the restoration, concerns remain about the platform’s vulnerability and the potential for future attacks.
This incident underscores the importance of cybersecurity in today’s digital landscape and raises questions about the preparedness of major platforms like X to defend against such threats.
